I really want to be Peter Schiff right now.

Life, Rants

Not just because he probably pulled all of his own money out of the markets well before the current situation. But mostly because he has the ultimate “I told you so” going on right now. It’s not just like “I told you the Giants would win the Superbowl” or “Tampa Bay is going to be really good this year” or “Obama”.

Here’s what I want to see… Camera on him sitting alone behind a desk. long pause… “Ben Stein, etc – For years you laughed at my ideas on national TV, suggested that listening to me was akin to believing in Santa Claus, and told people to put all their money in companies that were not only bad investments but actually went out of business in some cases, …you are all idoits, …how would you like to suck my balls. Thank you an goodnight.”

I think China has been playing “Win Ben Steins Money” and he didn’t even know it.

I am become death of tv shows.

Entertainment, TV

I always thought that people who whined about their shows being canceled were annoying. My feeling was that if the show was really that good then it would still be on the air. But now it seems like a lot of the shows that I think are really good are getting canceled in the first season or soon after. It seems like if a show has any kind of style or a unique voice then the networks can’t get an audience to turn in.

It could be because the audience for those kind of shows have so many other things to do. I would guess that they’re more literate and active than the audiece of say “Dancing with the Stars” or “NCIS” or god forbid “JAG”. Also I’m going to bet that they know how to work a Tivo so they don’t have to stay glued to the TV every night. Yes that’s right, I’m saying it, we’re too smart for the good of our favorite TV shows.

But I think you have to look at it in a positive light. As long as the producers and writers know that the end is coming and have a chance to give the characters a proper send off then I think it’s alright. You can think of these shows as really long movies or a tv miniseries. Just don’t get too into them… I’m looking at you “[W:Browncoats]”

My Favorite Canceled Shows.

  • [W:Arrested Development] – the show did survive 3 years, but it was too funny. (movie version coming soon!)
  • [W:The Loop] – only the first season, when they got rid of the roomates the show suffered.
  • [W:Freaks and Geeks] – Now that Judd Apatow is famous I’ll bet that they would love to have this show back.
  • [W:Undeclared] – see above.
  • [W:Invader Zim] – I have no idea who green lighted this show for a Nickelodeon Audience, but it is a great show for college kids.
  • [W:Pushing Daisies] – Style to spare in this show and funny writing (but i’m almost glad it’s going to wrap up soon, it needs an ending)
  • [W:Eli Stone] – I’m putting this on here, but I really think it will work better for them if they have an ending in sight.
  • [W:Amazing Screw-On Head] – It never even had a chance!
  • [W:Firefly]- The best combination of sci-fi, comedy, and characters ever. At least we got a movie out of it.

honorable mention (probably canceled soon or on Hiatus)

Chappelle’s Show, Flight of the Conchords, Californication, Gary Unmarried

Know-it-alls, shouldn't evolution have sorted them out?

Life, Rants

I hate to make an argument against evolution, but isn’t the existence of Know-it-all people (KIAPs) proof that Evolution doesn’t exist? I hate these people, they aren’t good to talk to, they aren’t good to argue with, they aren’t even good to yell at. They’re always right even when they’re wrong, really really wrong. What’s even worse is having a conversation on a subject that you don’t really fully understand, and you fully admit that, and coming out of it feeling like an idiot anyway.

How do these people mate? It’s mostly men who are KIAPs, the women don’t seem to bug me as much because ALL women think they’re right all the time anyways. I don’t understand what kind of woman would want to be with a guy who constantly tells her that she’s wrong. It’s like pushing two north pole magnets together. People should be evolving into better human beings, not pompous jerks.

But I guess thats in a perfect world.

Damn dirty KIAPs!

Things I learned this weekend…

Life, Randomness

In the order I can remember them.

1.) You can NOT make it to Staunton Virginia from Fredericksburg by 4pm if you leave at 2pm. Also you should realize this when you get to Route 20 at 2:30pm and just give up instead of driving out to Skyline drive… but it was a pretty drive.

2.) Gay men do not appreciate Han Solo related belt fashion. Apparently satchels are out this year.

3.) Some people don’t appreciate being called “Matt Mirabile’s Sister”

4.) After driving around for 8 hours you really don’t want to go out to a party, you just want to not be driving anymore.

5.) If while at a party someone hands you a drink that they’ve dubbed “Sheep Shit” just pass on it. Trust Me.

6.) There must be more…
