Things I’ve done this week

Life, Randomness

Sometimes it feels like I’m not making any progress on all of the projects in my life. That’s because the way I work I like to chip away at the problems slowly. It’s either that or I’m just constantly distracted, but either way I am making progress on some things.

  1. Put together a website redesign proposal
  2. Completed  a prototype for the illuminated white umbrella wedding decoration concept.
  3. Epoxy and JB welded 10 more skull door knocker parts
  4. Got the pictures for my passport application.
  5. Celebrated Laurel’s new Job
  6. Found our Cheers, John’s place, a local bar.

Dinner of Champions

Life, Randomness

When Laurel is working at night I have to make my own dinner. Which might not seem that exciting, but I’ve gotten so spoiled with her awesome cooking that I feel like I have to step it up when I’m alone. I take it as a challenge to use the things that are around the house. You may have noticed that in this post. Tonight I opened the freezer and two things were staring back at me….

Chicken and Waffles

Chicken and Waffles

It was delicious.

Hey it’s that guy from… (The boy who could fly)

Entertainment, TV

He could!

This is one of those movies that I watched all the time but I didn’t really like that much. I think it was recorded on a tape that also had a movie that I really wanted to watch. At my house movies were recorded off of HBO onto VHS tapes, so you could get 3 whole movies on a tape. So you’d finish watching Ghostbusters and then the tape would keep going and the next movie would come on. I think this was on the same tape as ‘Flight of the Navigator‘ which would make since their both that warm and fuzzy ABC ‘movie of the week’ kind of thing.

Where else do I know him from? Well for me his #2 role would be as ‘Bug’ the skeezy boyfriend in ‘Uncle Buck‘, but you may know him from the Public Library rental, Not Quite Human. What commercial may you have seen him in? Find out after the break.

Cheap sunglasses for the win

Life, Randomness

I would say that 95% of cheap sunglasses make you look like Tom Cruise’s retarded brother. But every once in a while you find that magical 5% that are both cheap and cool and also don’t fold like their made of solder when you have them in your pocket.  It makes you feel good every time you look in the mirror and you see yourself looking slightly cooler and know that you didn’t spend an inappropriate amount of money on these things. I’m sure my optometrist friend would tell me that they aren’t protecting my eyes from all types of radiation. But the sticker on them did say that they block UV A & B rays… so until they discover C rays, I’m good.

Rule one of my “New rules for cheap things” is

  1. If it’s under $10 and it works for you, buy two.

So I bought 2 pairs.

They have a website, where you can’t actually by anything. I think it’s more for retailers to find out about the line. But hey, if I’m going to tell you about the virtues of a $11 product I can at least tell you what it is.

Projects, Stuff and Things

It’s that time of year again, garden time! We were distracted last year and had a lack luster harvest. But this year we are both interested in actually growing some vegetables that are worth talking about. So we’ve put in some work on the garden in the last few weeks. I think it could really turn out great this year. We have pumpkins, green peppers, jalapenos, carrots, beets, strawberries, raspberries, potatoes, tomatoes, basil, cilantro, and two unknown things in the pot… I’m pretty sure one of them is a tree. To simplify the process I set up a sprinkler at the edge of the garden so all we have to do is go down and turn on the faucet and it automatically gets watered.  Now all we have to do is remember to do that!
