Extreme pickle technology – Jalapeno Dill Spears

Delicious Spicy Pickles

I love pickles. Recently I’ve been indulging more in my addiction to vinegar soaked cucumber slices. I could sit down to watch some tv and eat an entire jar of dill spears. I don’t know if I should be proud of this, but I just love pickles.

I saw this jar in my local pickle isle and I knew that I had to have it. It tastes like pickles soaked in jalapeno juice, which if you don’t like then get the frak off my blog. It’s delicious. when you first bite into it you think to yourself “Man, this is such a waste, it tastes just like a regular pickle” then after a few seconds you start to taste that faint hint of jalapeno and you think… “Now that’s more like it, this is the pickle experience I paid for”. The after taste is ALL jalapeno juice, which is a bit overpowering, but if you eat another one real quick it lessens the pain.. until you run out of pickles and have nothing but your tears to quench the burning.

I don’t know if these have any practical purpose yet. But they are flippin awesome. First they had Big Dog, then I saw Little Dog, now they have PETMAN. Which is a two legged robot that has a human style heel-toe walk and also sports a sweet pair of climbing shoes.
I can totally see a day in the future when we have robots to carry our stuff around. I would keep one in the trunk just so I never have to make a second trip out to the car after going shopping for groceries.

Solar Decathlon Monday : Inside three houses

Solar Decathlon

On Monday, Columbus Day, I was working from home, but I needed to come into the office to reset my computer because it’s a cheap government P.O.S. and it froze. So because Wade was working a half day we decided to meet up with him and tour some of the Solar Decathlon houses down on the mall. Wade forgot the memory card in his camera so the only pictures I have are from my little Sony which is normally OK, But I am no professional Photographer. We were all really impressed with the designs and ideas. It’s a totally different experience to actually go inside the houses and see up close what they’ve done with the technology and the space. There were long lines for all of them so we just chose three to visit that day.

Artificial Wetlands

Artificial Wetlands

I heard that the Solar Decathlon was back in town this year, but I didn’t know the dates. I didn’t want to miss it, so at lunch today Phil and I walked over to check out what’s going on. I think it starts next week, so they’re really coming together. They look so much more complicated than in previous years. I think they’ve really brought their A-game this year. It was cool to see the funcitoning artificial wetlands and water conservation systems. I didn’t have a good camera so I had to use my cell. I’ll come back next week when it’s really going so I can get a tour of the homes and get better pictures.

Maybe I’ll bring wade for some joint Swalrus Network coverage.

I might have to buy National Geographic this month.

I found this video for the new issue of National Geographic, it’s about photographers trying to capture the giant redwoods. I know you’re thinking… just take a picture of them. I thought that before I had been there. It’s really something that everyone should experience in person. I have plenty of pictures of us standing by the base of these trees, but they don’t convey the awesome power of a living thing that’s over a hundred feet tall.
