I’ve been interested in the modding scene for a few years now. It relates to my background in art and interest in computers. But today I have a different question. Is it worth it to begin a mod knowing that someone else has already done the same thing? In Pc modding there is always that next level, that eye-popping design or really creative one. But in Xbox modding there seems to be many more limitations, everyone seems to do variations on the same theme. Having said that, I really like most of them. Check out xbox transformed for some examples. I know that when I was first interest in modding I would get grief from “Miss Perfection” Crystal Schlotter about a painted case never looking as good as a “bought” one. But quality is one of my goals in designing a mod. I guess I look to the hot rod scene for inspiration, they have been doing those ’32 Ford street rods forever, they must be running low on ideas and yet they still make new ones. I guess the drive to make another one comes from the process rather than the end result. Maybe I’m thinking too much about this, maybe I’m scared to mess up my box and my ego as a modder. I am also worried about durability, I know how fragile my PC mods came out (half of that is cause I never really finished them) and the Xbox needs to be able to be transported. But if i do this i will be going all out, and I will be spending a lot of time in the planning stages. If I come up with anything I’ll post some designs here.
