I’d like to thank the Internet and Italy for this video.

Entertainment, The Interweb

This video both rocks and/or rolls. I’m always interested in what other countries think of the US, I don’t know if this was making fun of us… but I love it. The video features a dangerous level of sexy Italian women in skin tight pantsuits and the awkward ‘OK’ hand sign from what looks like “Italian Borat” is hilarious. The lyrics are NOT in English, but they sound like they are. So think of this whenever you’re inappropriately making the slit eyes and saying “Ching Ching Cong” … It reminds me of a post on ask.metafilter about what gibberish words non-english speakers use to make fun of americans.

Things I found on the Internet today using Stumbler and the power of imagination

America

America

I was reading a discussion on Ask Metafilter about understanding America and I got inspired about what a great country that we live in. I also recently re-discovered Stumble Upon. You see I have this list of about 30 bookmarks that I visit on a regular basis. When those are done, I’ve officially finished the internet. I just sit there trying to think of something to Google. But stumbling allows me to randomly go through sites that are rated good by the community. There seems to be some kind of relationship to that discussion and the links that I’m finding today

Ask Meta-filter discussion about understanding America

The Wikipedia entry on the history of beer in America

A picture of the invasion fleet at Normandy

A video about the Chrysler Turbo Encabulator

Beard Team USA

I don’t know if these links explain America. I’m sure if I spent time on it I could noodle out some correlation of feedom and responsibility and recreation. But I think that it explains my interests and humor pretty well.

Maybe it’s that I’ve seen most of these movies? Maybe it’s because it seems like at any moment they might come to life in full video. We see so much full motion video on the internet now that its surprising to see moving images that are still gif animations. Certain ones are better than others, I personally like ones where not all the elements are moving at the same speed. When you look at a full page of posts you almost slip into a drug induced stupor for a second. Check it out, I’m sure you’ll enjoy a few of them.

Facebook is for adults and Vimeo is for creative people

Almost every video that I find on Vimeo is really high quality and looks like it took a lot of time. Maybe it’s that the producers spent a lot of time on them and they dont want them being dominated in views by the new talking cat video or some kid  in his basement lip-syncing to Lady Gaga.

This one is worth your time.

The Underbelly of the Internet

Entertainment, The Interweb

I love finding weird sites and weird communities of people on the internet. I’m not talking about pedophiles or Child Pornography weird, just regular old American weird… or possibly Japanese weird at the most. Everybody always asks me how I find these sites, sometimes it’s through blogs like neatorama, Boing Boing, or Dubious Quality.

Other times I’m just better at the internet than you are… deal with it.

Here are some recent finds.

Giada’s Cleavage – A site dedicated to the boobs of Giada De Laurentis from the Food Network

Pot That Zit – A horrifying community of people sharing picture and videos of zits, abcesses, and cysts… popping. Even their logo is gross.

Negse – A japanese guy that has been documenting his bedhead, everyday, since 2000.

Welcome to my world.
